Export your DNS records
How to export the DNS records from your current provider before connecting your site to Tuurbo.
What it is
DNS records tell the internet where your site, your email and other services live. Before connecting your domain to Tuurbo you need a copy of all your current records, so nothing stops working when the nameservers change.
You can export them from the panel of the provider where you bought the domain or where your DNS is hosted. The section is usually called DNS, DNS zone or DNS management.
Two ways to export
- Export button: many providers let you download a CSV or zone file.
- Manual copy: if there is no export, copy every record (type, name, value, TTL) or take a screenshot of the full list.
You can then import the file or the screenshot in Tuurbo from DNS with Import from, then File/Screenshot.
Provider by provider
| Provider | Where to find the records | How to export |
|---|---|---|
| Register.it | Domain, then Advanced management | Export or Export CSV button |
| Aruba | Domain services, then DNS management, then choose the domain | Export / Import section, choose TXT format |
| Netsons | Domains, choose the domain, Domain management, then Domain panel | Export CSV button |
| SiteGround | Site Tools, then Domain, then DNS Zone Editor | No export: copy the records or take a screenshot |
| GoDaddy | My Products, then DNS next to the domain | Actions, then Export Zone File |
| IONOS | Domains & SSL, choose the domain, then DNS | No export: copy every section, records are split by type |
| Namecheap | Domain List, Manage, then Advanced DNS | With cPanel hosting: AutoBackup, DNS tab, the file is in the dnszones folder. Otherwise copy the Host Records table |
| Hostinger | hPanel, Domains, then DNS Editor | No export: copy Type, Name, Points to and TTL of each record |
Menu names can change over time: if you cannot find an item, look for "DNS" in your provider's panel.
What a text export looks like
example.com. 3600 IN A 192.0.2.1
www 3600 IN CNAME example.com.
mail 3600 IN A 192.0.2.2
example.com. 3600 IN MX 10 mail.example.com.
example.com. 3600 IN TXT "v=spf1 include:_spf.example.com ~all"
Each line shows the record name, the TTL in seconds, the class (IN), the type and the value.
Common problems
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| Email stops working after the switch | MX and TXT (SPF, DKIM) records were not copied. Add them in DNS. |
| A subdomain no longer opens | Check that every A and CNAME record of the subdomain was imported. |
| I do not have access to the provider | Ask whoever manages the domain for the credentials or for the export file. |
