Performance: Automations

Presets and speed, media and INP optimizations that improve your Google PageSpeed Insights score.

What it is

Automations is the first page of Performance & CDN. It groups every optimization that Tuurbo applies automatically to your pages to make them load faster and improve your Google PageSpeed Insights score, without touching your site's code.

To open it: side menu Performance, then Automations in the Performance & CDN menu.

Automations work only when the Tuurbo proxy is active on at least one DNS record. If it is not, you will see the message "Activate Tuurbo to use automations" with the Go to DNS button. See DNS.

Performance presets

At the top you can choose a ready-made configuration. The change is applied immediately.

PresetWhat it does
Stability FirstAll speed optimizations on, Critical CSS and Cookieless Cache off. No aggressive optimization.
BalancedLike Stability First, plus Cookieless Cache. Good balance between performance and stability.
Max SpeedEvery optimization on, including Critical CSS (if your plan includes it) and Cookieless Cache.
CustomShown automatically when your settings do not match any preset. It cannot be selected directly.

Speed Performance

Compression, preload and resource optimization. Each row has a switch and, where available, a gear icon with extra settings. The header shows how many optimizations are active.

  • Automatic LCP Preload: finds the largest element of the page (LCP) and loads it in advance.
  • Image compression: compresses images to reduce load time. In the settings you choose the quality (Low 60%, Medium 70%, High 80%, Very high 90%) and can exclude specific images.
  • CSS compression: compresses CSS files. You can exclude specific files.
  • Smart Image Resize: resizes images based on the visitor's device.
  • Critical CSS: generates, for each page, a stylesheet with only the rules actually used. In the settings you can add exclusions and your own Custom CSS. Available only on plans that include it: otherwise the row shows a plan notice instead of the switch.
  • Tuurbo Loader: delays non-essential JavaScript so the page is shown sooner. You can exclude scripts that must load immediately.
  • Predictive Navigation: preloads the next page when the visitor is about to open it, so navigation feels instant.

Media

Deferred loading of images, videos and iframes: they are loaded only when they are about to appear on screen.

  • Lazyload Images
  • Lazyload Videos
  • Lazyload IFRAME

When at least one is active, the Exclude files from Lazyloading field appears: add the files or paths that must always load immediately (for example the logo or the main image at the top of the page).

INP Module

Improves responsiveness (INP) by moving third-party scripts such as Facebook Pixel, HubSpot, Intercom, Klaviyo, TikTok Pixel or Mixpanel out of the page's main work, using Partytown.

  1. Turn on Web Worker for third-party loading (Partytown).
  2. For advanced use, turn on Enable developer mode: you can list the Libraries to include in Partytown and write an Advanced Partytown configuration.
  3. Click Save.

Security and exclusions

At the bottom of the page you also find the Security & Firewall card (the same settings described in Firewall) and the exclusion rules, to keep specific pages out of the automations.

Tips

  • Start with Balanced, check the site, then move to Max Speed if everything works.
  • If a part of the site looks broken after activating an optimization, turn off that optimization or add an exclusion instead of disabling everything.
  • After changing Critical CSS, regenerate it from Caching.
