SEO & GEO/AEO automations
Configuring automatic meta tag generation, AI rules, exclusions and prerendering for search engines and AI answer engines.
What is SEO & GEO
SEO & GEO is where you configure Tuurbo's automations for search engine optimisation and for optimisation towards AI answer engines (GEO/AEO), such as automatically generated meta tags, AI writing rules, page exclusions, and prerendering for crawlers. This section requires a plan that includes automation, and is not available for Shopify test accounts.
What you can do
- Configure automatic generation of meta titles and descriptions.
- Set whether AI-generated SEO changes require your manual approval before going live.
- Exclude specific URLs or patterns from automation.
- Configure rules for how the AI writes (language, tone, general settings).
- Set up prerendering, serving a pre-built version of your pages to search engine and AI crawlers.
- Review the history of changes and their status.
Setting up automatic generation and approval
- Open SEO & GEO from the side menu.
- Choose the tab for the type of rule you want to configure (prerender rules, AI rules, exclusions, or change history).
- Decide whether AI-generated changes should require your approval before going live, using the approval setting. If enabled, every AI suggestion waits for you to review it in Reviewing & approving SEO changes before it takes effect.
- Save your settings.
Configuring AI rules
- From the SEO & GEO panel, open the AI rules configuration.
- Choose the language the AI should write in.
- Adjust any additional generation settings offered.
- Save the rules; they apply to future automatic generation.
Excluding pages from automation
- Open the exclusions section.
- Add the route or URL pattern you want to protect from automatic changes.
- Save; the excluded pages are skipped both by automatic content generation and, where shared, by prerendering.
Setting up prerendering
Prerendering serves a ready-made version of your page's HTML to bots and crawlers (including AI crawlers), which can help them read and index your content more reliably.
- Open the Prerender tab (available here and also inside Performance).
- Define which user agents or URL patterns should receive the prerendered version.
- Configure the technical details as needed:
| Option | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Timeout | Maximum time allowed to prepare the prerendered page. |
| Wait for network idle / wait for selector | Whether to wait until the page has fully loaded before serving it. |
| Emulate mobile | Whether the prerendered version simulates a mobile device. |
| Cookies / headers | Custom cookies or headers sent when generating the prerendered version. |
| Block resources | Resources to skip while preparing the page (to speed things up). |
| Redirect mode | How redirects are handled during prerendering. |
| Custom prerender script | An optional custom script run during preparation. |
| Viewport | The screen size simulated when preparing the page. |
- Save your prerender rules.
Tips
- Turn on manual approval while you're still getting comfortable with the quality of AI-generated SEO content; switch to automatic publishing once you trust the results.
- Use exclusions for pages that need a fixed, unchanging meta title or description (for example, legal pages).
- Prerendering is especially useful for pages that rely heavily on JavaScript, since some crawlers struggle to read fully dynamic content.
Common problems
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| AI-generated changes never appear | Check whether approval is required; if so, review them in the change history rather than expecting them to go live automatically. |
| A page keeps getting SEO changes you don't want | Add it to the exclusions list. |
| Crawlers still can't read a page correctly | Review your prerender settings, especially wait conditions and blocked resources. |
| Section is not accessible | Confirm your plan includes automation; this section isn't available on Shopify test accounts. |
