Performance: DNS

Manage your domain's DNS records, import them from your provider and activate Tuurbo on each record.

What it is

DNS is where you manage your domain's records and decide which ones pass through Tuurbo. Activating Tuurbo on a record is what turns on the CDN, the automations and the firewall for that address.

To open it: Performance, then DNS. A banner reminds you that you can also import records in one click with the Tuurbo Chrome extension.

Toolbar

  • Add Record: opens a window where you choose the Record Type (A, AAAA, CAA, CNAME, HTTPS, MX, NS, PTR, SPF, SRV, SVCB, TXT, URI), the TTL (Auto, 1 min, 5 min, 30 min, 1 hour, 12 hours, 1 day) and the fields required by that type.
  • Import from: imports records from File/Screenshot, Auto-Scan, Cloudflare, IONOS, GoDaddy, OVH or cPanel/WHM. For providers you enter the access keys they give you.
  • Export CSV: downloads all records in a CSV file.
  • Search records, All types filter and Only activatable filter.

The table

Columns: Environment (Production, Test, Off), Type, Name, Content, TTL, Activate Tuurbo and Actions (edit, delete).

Use the Activate Tuurbo switch to route a record through Tuurbo. Only A and CNAME records that can be proxied, and that are not technical subdomains (for example mail, ftp, staging, admin), can be activated.

Step by step: activate Tuurbo

  1. Import your records with Import from or the Chrome extension, or add them with Add Record.
  2. Turn on Only activatable to see the records you can route through Tuurbo.
  3. Turn on Activate Tuurbo on the main records of your site (usually the domain and www).
  4. Go back to Automations: the optimizations are now available.

Record examples

TypeNameContentNotes
Aexample.com203.0.113.10Points the domain to your server's IP
CNAMEwwwexample.comMakes www an alias of the domain
MXexample.commail.example.comPriority 10, handles email
TXT (SPF)example.com"v=spf1 a mx ~all"Authorizes the servers that send your email

Changing DNS records can affect the site, email and external services. Changes may take a few minutes to propagate. Coming from another provider? See Export your DNS records.

Limits and things to know

  • Bulk import skips NS, SOA, PTR, CAA and SRV records: add them manually with Add Record.
  • Do not activate Tuurbo on records used for email or other services: they are excluded automatically when recognized.
