Turn off DNSSEC before switching
Why DNSSEC must be turned off at your registrar before moving the nameservers to Tuurbo, with steps for GoDaddy and Aruba.
What it is
DNSSEC adds a digital signature to your domain's DNS records. The signature is tied to your current DNS provider: when you move the nameservers to Tuurbo, the old signature no longer matches and the domain can stop resolving.
For this reason, turn DNSSEC off at your registrar before changing the nameservers.
Why it matters
- Compatibility: a signature that does not match the new nameservers makes resolvers reject the domain.
- Service interruptions: errors in signing or key management can make the site and email unreachable.
- Simpler migration: with DNSSEC off, the switch to the new nameservers is clean and quick.
Step by step: GoDaddy
- Sign in to your GoDaddy account.
- Go to My Products.
- Click Manage next to the domain.
- In the domain settings, find Additional Settings.
- Click Manage DNSSEC.
- Remove or turn off the DNSSEC records and confirm.
Step by step: Aruba
- Sign in to your account on aruba.it.
- Go to the domains section and choose the domain.
- Open DNS management or a similar item.
- Find the DNSSEC section (it may be called "DNS security settings").
- Click Disable DNSSEC and save.
- Wait a few minutes for the change to propagate.
With other registrars the path is similar: look for "DNSSEC" in the domain or DNS settings.
Common problems
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| The site does not open after changing nameservers | DNSSEC may still be active at the registrar: turn it off and wait for propagation. |
| I cannot find the DNSSEC option | Ask the registrar's support, or check whether DNSSEC was ever enabled. |
