SEO automation settings
Every setting of each SEO & GEO automation: approval, prefix and suffix, excluded URLs and activation conditions.
Each SEO & GEO automation has its own settings panel. This page explains every option in the panel and which options are available for each automation. For the general workflow (activation, approval, AI rules) see SEO & GEO/AEO automations.
How to open the settings of an automation
- Open your site and go to SEO & GEO in the sidebar.
- Find the automation in the list (for example Optimize Title tags).
- Click the settings icon (tooltip Settings) next to the switch.
- A side panel opens with the name and description of the automation at the top.
- Change the options you need and click Save settings. The message Automation updated. confirms the save.
The switch next to each automation only turns it on or off. All the rules described below live in the settings panel.
The options in the settings panel
The panel is made of up to four blocks. Not every automation shows all of them: see the table in the next section.
Require approval
A switch at the top of the panel. Description in the app: "AI-generated changes require a review before being published."
- On: every change generated by the AI waits in Reviewing & approving SEO changes until you approve it. Nothing is published on the site without your review.
- Off: changes are applied to the site automatically as soon as they are generated.
Tip: keep it on during the first days, check the quality of the results, then turn it off for the automations you trust.
Additional text: Prefix and Suffix
Two fields, Prefix and Suffix, under the heading Additional text. The text you type is added before (prefix) or after (suffix) every value generated by the AI.
- Example prefix:
Brand -producesBrand - Red running shoes for women. - Example suffix:
- BrandproducesRed running shoes for women - Brand. - Leave both fields empty if you do not want any fixed text.
Keep in mind that prefix and suffix count toward the total length of the tag. If you add a long suffix to titles, the AI part has less room before hitting the length limits.
Excluded URLs
A list of paths where the automation must never act. Click Add (or Edit if the list is not empty) to open the dialog, then type one path per line. You can also separate paths with commas or semicolons: duplicates and empty lines are removed automatically. Click Save in the dialog, then Save settings in the panel.
- If the list is empty the panel shows No excluded paths.
- The panel shows the first 5 excluded paths and a counter for the others.
- Typical uses: checkout, cart, account pages, landing pages written by hand whose tags you do not want touched.
Exclusions are per automation: excluding /cart from Optimize Title tags does not exclude it from Optimize Meta Description tags.
Activation conditions
A list of switches that decide on which pages the AI intervenes. Each condition carries an AI badge, highlighted when the condition is on. You can turn on more than one condition at the same time.
| Condition | What it does |
|---|---|
| Add where missing | Generates the tag on pages where it does not exist at all in the HTML. |
| Add where empty | Generates the tag on pages where it exists but has no content. |
| Rewrite all existing tags | Rewrites every tag already present, even if it looks correct. Use it when you want a full, consistent rewrite of the site. |
| Rewrite tags that are too short | Rewrites tags shorter than the threshold shown in brackets (for example "(30 chr)" on titles). |
| Rewrite tags that are too long | Rewrites tags longer than the threshold shown in brackets (for example "(60 chr)" on titles). |
The thresholds in characters are the recommended values set by Tuurbo AI for each automation and are shown next to the condition name.
Which conditions appear depends on the automation: each automation shows only the conditions that make sense for that tag. If an automation shows no conditions, the block is hidden.
Recommended setups:
- Safe start: only Add where missing and Add where empty. The AI fills the gaps and does not touch what you already wrote.
- Quality fix: add Rewrite tags that are too short and Rewrite tags that are too long to fix tags outside the recommended lengths.
- Full rewrite: Rewrite all existing tags, ideally with Require approval on, so you can check every change.
Options available for each automation
| Automation | Tag | Require approval | Prefix / Suffix | Excluded URLs | Activation conditions |

"When available" means the block appears only if the automation offers conditions on your site.
Details for each automation
Optimize Title tags
Generates the <title> of the indicated pages, inferring the content from the page via AI. It is the automation with the strongest impact on ranking and on how the page appears in Google and in AI answers.
- Prefix / Suffix: useful to add the brand name, for example suffix
- Brand. - Conditions: Add where empty, Rewrite all existing tags, Rewrite tags that are too short (30 chr), Rewrite tags that are too long (60 chr).
- Tip: with a long suffix, the AI text plus suffix can exceed 60 characters. Keep suffixes short.
Optimize Meta Description tags
Generates the meta description, the text shown under the title in search results. It influences click-through rate more than ranking.
- Prefix / Suffix: available, rarely needed. A short suffix can add a call to action, for example
Free shipping.. - Conditions: missing, empty, rewrite all and length conditions, with the thresholds shown in the panel.
Optimize Opengraph Title and Optimize Opengraph Description
Generate og:title and og:description, the title and text shown when the page is shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and similar apps.
- Prefix / Suffix: available, for example to add the brand to shared titles.
- Conditions: the same types as the SEO title and description.
Optimize Opengraph Type, Opengraph URL and Opengraph Image
Generate og:type (for example website, article, product), og:url (the canonical address of the page) and og:image (the image shown in the share preview).
- Prefix / Suffix: not available, because these values are a type, a URL and an image, not free text.
- Excluded URLs and Require approval: available.
Optimize Twitter Card Title and Optimize Twitter Card Description
Generate the title and description used by X (Twitter) cards.
- Prefix / Suffix: available.
- Conditions: the same types as the Opengraph title and description.
Optimize image alt attributes
Generates the alt attribute of images, describing the image from the page context. It improves accessibility for screen readers and helps images appear in image search.
- Prefix / Suffix: available but usually better left empty: alt text should describe the image, not repeat the brand.
- Conditions: typically Add where missing and Add where empty.
Optimize Microdata
Generates JSON-LD structured data (for example Product, Organization, Article) that helps search engines and AI engines understand the page.
- Prefix / Suffix: not available.
- Tip: keep Require approval on at the beginning and check the results in the review page.
Optimize H1 tags
Optimizes the main heading of the page, inferring the content from the page context.
- Tip: the H1 is visible to your visitors. Keep Require approval on so you can check every change before it goes live.
Optimize link title attributes
Generates missing title attributes on links, inferring the content from the context of the link. It helps accessibility and gives search engines more context about linked pages.
Markdown for Agents
Markdown for Agents (tag AI Visibility) has no settings panel: it only has an on/off switch. When on, it serves AI crawlers a clean text version of the page, which reduces HTML noise and improves how generative engines understand your content. Click the row to open the explanation.
Credits
Every value generated or regenerated by the AI consumes AI credits. The more conditions you turn on (for example Rewrite all existing tags), the more pages the AI works on and the more credits you use. See How AI credits work and Credit cost per action.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| The automation is on but nothing changes | Check that at least one activation condition is on and that the pages are not in Excluded URLs. If Require approval is on, the changes are waiting in the review page. |
| Titles are too long after the change | Shorten the prefix or suffix, or turn on Rewrite tags that are too long. |
| I do not see the Prefix / Suffix fields | The automation works on a type, URL, image or structured data (Opengraph Type, URL, Image, Microdata): these do not support fixed text. |
| I do not see activation conditions | The automation does not offer conditions for your site: the block is hidden. |
| A page I wrote by hand was changed | Add its path to Excluded URLs of that automation and reject the change in the review page. |
| The automation shows a plan notice instead of the switch | The automation is not included in your plan. See the plans in the app or contact support. |
